Ray Harvey may lose his retirement dream in Southern Golden Gate Estates, where he has owned a mobile home and a wholesale landscape nursery since the 1980s. The 10 acres he calls home were drained in the 1960s and sold by the Gulf American Corp. in a large-scale scam selling swampland in Florida. Now he is faced with a state buyout and reflooding of the 55,000 total acres in an effort to reclaim the Picayune Strand State Forest to return the natural water flow.
